Voluntary Action Center

The Voluntary Action Center (VAC) in Columbia, Missouri, has been serving the community for over 50 years, becoming a vital resource for our neighbors in need. Founded to address the immediate basic needs of individuals and families, VAC offers a variety of services, including financial assistance, housing support, and programs promoting health and education. 

VAC exists to empower possibility. We do this by embracing deep responsibility for one another, and we call on our community to stand and serve alongside us. Crisis knows no boundaries, not everyone has someone with the means to provide support when hardship strikes. That’s why your support is so important. When we talk about meeting “basic needs,” we recognize, in times of crisis, these needs often feel anything but basic—they feel enormous, insurmountable and hopeless. At VAC, we believe love is the antidote to hopelessness and when you give to VAC we transform those gifts into acts of love; empowering people right here in Boone County to believe in new possibilities for themselves, their children and their futures.
