Midwest Special Needs Trust - Charitable Grant

The Midwest Special Needs Trust (MSNT) Charitable Grant Program provides grant funding to individuals with disabilities for their supplemental needs not covered by government benefits, enhancing their quality of life. Your donation directly supports any Missouri resident with a disability who meets the eligibility criteria, with 100% of contributions going to those in need.

One fourth of individuals with disabilities live below the poverty level. Grants are available to help bridge the gap, making the obtainment of necessary healthcare and supplemental needs more readily available. Our program works to improve the health, wellness, and mobility of one of the most underserved and vulnerable populations in our state. MSNT embraces the opportunity to positively impact the lives of individuals with disabilities. 

In fiscal year 2024, MSNT provided 147 grants. There are two grant categories:  General grants are for items or services that are not urgent medical needs, such as lift chairs, special needs camps, and home modifications. Urgent grants are for immediate medical needs, such as dental and life-saving durable medical equipment. The applicant can apply for a grant to pay up to $2,000 for items or services they would not otherwise be able to afford. 

Imagine the impact of your donation! By donating, you will be helping children like Samantha. Born prematurely, Samantha required many hours of physical therapy. Her care team recommended Samantha attend a children’s gym that would not only provide a fun outlet for therapy but also provide a social outlet. However, the gym membership was expensive. Through generous donations, Samantha has been able to attend the children’s gym for several years – allowing her access to additional therapy in a fun setting. 

The MSNT Charitable Grant Program does not just help children with disabilities, but adults with disabilities as well. Recently, a grant was approved for a young man paralyzed in a car accident. He aspired to maintain his independence but struggled with household tasks like laundry due to his top loading washing machine. But because of donors, like you, he was able to purchase a front-loading washing machine, significantly improving his quality of life.
